Attorney General Barr Puts Rep. Nadler in His Place

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) tried to bully Attorney General Barr into appearing before Congress with special conditions surrounding his questioning.

When Nadler tried to set it up so his Judiciary Committee would do all the questioning, Barr shut him down cold and threatened to boycott the agreed upon appearance.

The Justice Department stated, “The attorney general agreed to appear before Congress; therefore, Congress does the questioning.”

Not This Time Jerry

Ever since Democrats got control of the House, they have been trying to overextend their power and bully the Trump administration.

First, it was the extensive and needless investigations into the Trump administration.

Then, they wanted an unredacted version of the Mueller report.

Now, Nadler is trying to change the rules for a congressional appearance by the Attorney General.

Barr, to this point, has been very cooperative with Congress, yet all he has received is scathing criticism by Democrats.

The Attorney General had agreed to appear before Congress, not in a closed session with any one specific committee.

Defending Barr

Thankfully, Republicans are finally stepping up to defend Barr.

The Republican House Judiciary Committee spokesperson stated, “Attorney General Barr wasn’t asked to testify before the committee—he offered.

“He provided the Mueller report voluntarily.

“He invited Democrat leaders to view the less-redacted report in person.

“Yet the only thing, apparently, that will satisfy Democrats, who refuse to read the less-redacted report, is to have staff pinch hit when a cabinet-level official appears before us.

“What actual precedent is there for our committee making such demands of a sitting attorney general as part of our oversight duties?

“The attorney general isn’t a fact witness, and this committee’s investigations—as Democrat leadership reminds us daily—don’t constitute impeachment, so Democrats have yet to prove their demands anything but abusive and illogical in light of the transparency and good faith the attorney general has shown our committee.”

This issue is quickly becoming a standoff between the Trump administration and House Democrats.

Several other subpoenas issued by House committees have flat out been ignored, as the White House has apparently given an order that you only go when we say you go.

Normally, I would be wondering what the White House was hiding, but this is anything but normal.

Democrats have already proven they will go to any length, legal or illegal, to try to unseat Trump from the White House.

As was stated by the Republican Judiciary Committee spokesperson, now, Democrats are just flat-out abusing their power.
