Even since Attorney General William Barr revealed he is conducting an investigation into the origins of the Russia probe, Democrats have been in panic mode.
According to Barr, it is a good thing he did this because things are not exactly adding up the more they dig.
When Barr started to look at the period between election day and the inauguration, he said there were “some very strange developments.”
Democrats are furious this investigation is happening at all.
As far as they are concerned, this was Bob Mueller’s job and now Republicans are redoing it to try to create a narrative to help Trump.
Barr cleared that up as well.
The Attorney General stated that Mueller only looked at the collusion angle itself and never investigated the government’s activities up to that point.
Barr stated, “He was not going back and looking at the counterintelligence program.”
Several reports have surfaced that have Comey more or less breaking boundaries in regard to the information used and what Comey actually told Trump about.
One of those instances was the meeting that took place between Comey and Trump regarding the Steele dossier.
Barr stated, “That’s one of the things … we need to look at.”
According to former CIA Director John Brennan, he pushed back against the dossier being used because the CIA did not use the dossier in its assessment.
Comey’s camp, of course, is saying the complete opposite.
This has become a high-stakes game of he said, she said.
The deeper Barr digs, the more confusing things become.
He stated, “So, in a sense, I have more questions today than I did when I first started.
“Some of what things don’t hang together, some of the explanations of what occurred.
“People have to find out what the government was doing during that period.
“If we’re worried about foreign influence, for the very same reason, shouldn’t we be worried about government officials abused their power and put their thumb on the scale?”
Indeed we should, Mr. Barr, indeed we should.
