Earlier today, Robert Mueller officially resigned from the appointment of Special Counsel, signaling the official close to the investigation.
Mueller’s statements, however, added more fuel to an already burning fire, energizing Democrats throughout the party to push for the impeachment of Donald Trump.
Muddied Waters
The waters surrounding the conclusion of the Mueller report on obstruction were already quite muddy.
Mueller kicked up more dirt from the bottom when he made his statement today.
While he once again reiterated there was no collusion, he added yet more confusion to the officer’s inability to say one way or the other on the obstruction charges.
At first, he cited the Justice Department’s mandate no sitting president can be indicted.
However, he also stated they did not have enough evidence one way or the other to make a decision.
Furthermore, the wording of this statement made it sound as though they never intended to make such a decision because of the mandate from the DOJ.
If you were scratching your head after Mueller’s presser, however, you were not alone.
Earlier today, I predicted Dems would focus one section of his statement that put the onus of finding guilt of a sitting president with Congress, and that is exactly what happened.
Dems Take the Bait
Immediately after Mueller wrapped up his press conference, Dems could not get to their phones quick enough to send out tweets pushing for impeachment.
Virtually every Democrat presidential candidate in the primary had something to say about it…
Robert Mueller’s statement makes it clear: Congress has a legal and moral obligation to begin impeachment proceedings immediately.

Mueller’s statement makes clear what those who have read his report know: It is an impeachment referral, and it’s up to Congress to act. They should.

There must be consequences, accountability, and justice. The only way to ensure that is to begin impeachment proceedings.
— Beto O'Rourke (@BetoORourke) May 29, 2019
What Robert Mueller basically did was return an impeachment referral. Now it is up to Congress to hold this president accountable.
We need to start impeachment proceedings. It's our constitutional obligation.

The call was not limited to presidential candidates, either.
While we have yet to hear from Speaker Pelosi, another prominent Dem was not shy about calling for the impeachment of Trump…
Given that Special Counsel Mueller was unable to pursue criminal charges against the President, it falls to Congress to respond to the crimes, lies and other wrongdoing of President Trump – and we will do so. No one, not even the President of the United States, is above the law. https://t.co/w61a8rRQeK

If you were hoping the investigations into Trump were going to go away, think again.
Not only are the existing investigations going to continue, but we can also expect several more as well as possible impeachment.
Personally, I still cannot get over the fact we are talking about obstructing an investigation into something that never happened.
Had there been a finding on the conspiracy charges, it would be one thing, but there was not.
It is very likely independent operators like Comey did their best to make it appear as though there was collusion to create an investigation, yet nobody on the left seems to be outraged about that.
And, let’s be honest here, with Democrats investigating obstruction, they are going to find it.
On the bright side, impeachment will never make its way through the Senate, so most of this is nothing more than a dog and pony show anyway.
However, Dems are going to get what they want in making it appear as though Trump did something wrong to hurt him in the 2020 election.
We were all hoping the circus would be over, but all Mueller did is ensure it goes on for at least the next two years.
