Trump Donor Outed by Castro Slams Congressman

Earlier today, we published an article on how Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) outed more than three dozen prominent San Antonio residents in an effort to shame them.

As it turns out, one of those donors, Wayne Harwell, a San Antonio real estate developer, has also donated to Castro, something that will never happen again.

Cutting Off Your Nose to Spite Your Face

The publication of the list, which is public record, appeared to be a clear attempt to shame these individuals.

In the process, many believe Castro put a target on these individuals both personally and professionally.

While Castro did not call for boycotts or attacks, his intent seemed pretty clear, especially after he interviewed about the subject.

He stated these business owners are getting rich off the very people Trump has targeted with his hateful rhetoric and they are the ones paying for the ads.

After seeing his name on the list, Harwell took exception.

Harwell stated, “I was also on a list of people that gave to Castro and if he dislikes me enough that he wants to put my name out there against Trump, I’m not going to give money to him.

“Obviously Castro feels pretty strongly against me.”

Harwell was referring to a $1,000 donation he has previously contributing to Castro.

Harwell did not back down off his support for Trump even after being outed by Castro.

He stated, “I’m pretty independent, but I support Trump.”

Hateful Rhetoric

Harwell was also very critical of the rhetoric being spewed in political circles these days.

However, it was Democrats he was actually calling out.

He stated, “I think some of the Democratic rhetoric is more hateful than some of Trump’s rhetoric.

“I think the San Antonio community needs to take a real deep look at what Castro is doing.

“Why is he doing this?”

He added: “If he wants to play in Washington, he needs to move to Washington.

“If he wants to play in San Antonio, he needs to at least be sensitive.

“The rest of the community is sensitive.

“We’re sensitive to both Republican and Democrat views.

“A lot of us here in San Antonio are independents.”

Something else Harwell brought up that most people have not even considered is the ramifications of future elections for Castro.

How are the people of Texas going to feel about either of the Castro’s going forward knowing that if you don’t fully support them or also happen to support a candidate on the other side of the aisle they will try to publicly shame you?

Harwell stated, “I hope his constituents remember this,” and my best guess is that they will.

This little stunt by Castro may have ended up costing him and his brother their political careers.
